Our motto is "Ecology - Music - Art - Our Environment" and you will find examples of all three influences on our environment at Riverfest-Norval 2006.

Ecology is represented this year with the theme of "w-a-t-e-r" and features Children's Water Festival events. Water, a most precious resource, is vital to us all and also is the theme of our mini Film-Festival. There will be many chances for hands-on environmental experiences for families to enjoy.

Music will be heard all through the afternoon into the evening. Live musicians will be playing at locations down in Willow Park Ecology Centre and up in Norval Park.

Artists will be creating on site at various locations throughout the day. Some of your favourite artists and groups will be featured in our outdoor artists show and sale. You and your children will even get a chance to try your hand at making your own creations at our "Creativity Spots".

On Saturday, June 3rd the main events will include Hiking, Project Wet, Historic Norval guided walks, and Young Hikers Program. Hike leaders will take you on a local trails adventure and provide hike related tips. Project Wet has 90 different hands-on activities that serve as an aid to help people understand the importance and influence of water.

On Sunday, June 4th, from noon to 8 pm, family activities will include the Children's Water Festival programs such as "Enviroscape Wetlands", "We Use that Much" and "Off I Go", and exhibits such as Wye Marsh's Wet & Scaly, River Critters, Electrofishing, and many others. The always-favorite "Paddle to the Sea" race will top off Sunday's kids activities. Other stations will include kite building, rock and scarf painting, and treasure hunts. The youngsters will have opportunity to experience rock climbing, bouncy castles, and other active pastimes, too.

The Riverfest Outdoor Market will host vendors and community groups offering new ideas, products and services related to water, environmentally friendly practices, and sustainable living. Those interested are encouraged to register early to secure a table. The famous Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Rotarians, lunch, dinner, and snack foods, and a beer/wine tent are planned.

Riverfest-Norval 2006 comes to us after a year's sabbatical and will be the success of the hard work and financial contributions of many individuals, groups and businesses.
It is a collaboration of many community groups - WPEC, Norval Community Assoc., TEAC, Halton-North Peel Naturalists, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC), P.O.W.E.R., Bruce Trail Assoc., and Hike Ontario.

The goal for Riverfest is to serve as a fundraiser which will continue the well-received and vital School Programs of Willow Park Ecology Centre into 2007. As a result, the entrance fee will be $15 per family, with the Project Wet Workshop charged separately.
